It's Tuesday morning and the news is "Mother of triplets arrested in torture death of two sons." You shake your head and wonder what this world is coming to? How can a mother kill her children?

According to the American Dept. of Justice Study (DOJ) "Murder in Families," mothers account for 55% of all fatal child abuse (fathers 8%, stepmothers/girlfriends for 9%, stepfathers/boyfriends 10%) even when taking into account custody arrangements. In thinking about this, one has to wonder who else these mothers were abusive toward?

Studies on Domestic Violence Against Women, often show that the women can be just as violent as the men. One DOJ study, "Prevalence, Incidence, and Consequences of Violence Against Women: Findings from the National Violence Against Women Survey" shows that 39% of the victims are men, though you have to go to page 7 of this 16-page study to learn that.

Some 190 other studies (www.feffi.org) place the figure even higher. In the case of Leonard Bass, father of the triplets, he was left with no place to take his children, so he had to leave them behind in the care of their mother, Mary Bass. And as most ones know in the Kansas City area, Mary Bass was convicted in October 2000 of the torture death of two of the triplets. The third has been left with lifetime scares and disabilities. When a person talks about women committing domestic assault on men, others will snicker, and wonder how a little woman can hurt a man. But, the fact is that it does happen. How it happens is simple. With today's hysteria about domestic violence by men, male victims are afraid to defend themselves, and with good reason. The simple act of grabbing a woman's arms, to prevent her from hitting or scratching him, is considered a domestic assault on her, for which he can be arrested.

Fathers4Equality consists of a large number of fathers, mothers, step-parents and grand-parents, who all share the core belief that sole-residence as a preferred model for post-separated families is harmful to children, and deprives decent non-custodial parents (usually fathers) of being a parent in the true sense of the word.
